When I ran across this little farm up in the hills of the Smoky Mountains, I imagined this man had just come from the barn to check on things. It’s been a long cold day, and a couple of new calves were born so he needed to check on them. His faithful dog wanted to be there to see, too. The fire is on in the house keeping the family warm, the smell of dinner is coming out in the blue smoke from the chimney, and it is time to bundle up by the fireplace with a good book, some family time, and a good nights rest – all a part of the evening in this Winter Homeplace.
