I’ve always wanted to paint a very small village nestled in a picture perfect valley so I combined all of the elements of a perfect valley with a beautiful view of a spectacular mountain vista, a winding river, lush fields, meadows, homes, and farms. The centerpiece was inspired by the way the soft evening light struck the church steeple in a little Italian village I had seen. I wanted the viewer to be led down the path to the village, rest at the church for a moment, then follow the curves and bends of the river back down to the bridge. I want this painting to evoke feelings of peace and warmth in your heart and for you to feel invited to enjoy the remarkable beauty of God’s handiwork. I want hope to rise again in your soul that there will be peace in the valley someday.
