When I first began painting before the age of 12, the outdoors were always my main source of inspiration. Then, as I started painting professionally, the outdoors became a place to escape stress and a cooped up studio. It was a place I could go to sit, relax, and talk to God. As I have become busier, it seems I haven’t had time to get out like I used to. This spring I bought a kayak, and I quickly rediscovered my love of fishing! This painting is a place to escape even when you don’t have time to get outdoors. You can get away for a short vacation just by wandering into the painting. You can imagine yourself walking along the stream or fishing. You can daydream while sitting and watching the clouds form over the mountains. As you get away, you see there’s a lot to be thankful for even if the fish aren’t biting. As with all of my paintings, I hope Paradise Valley touches you and invokes a sense of peace and refreshing and awe at God’s handiwork.
