Each of my paintings has their own story. The inspiration for Dogwood Cottage started months ago when I did a small painting of a springtime garden. When I shared it with my friends, everyone really liked it. Some paintings I create with a deep meaning behind them, others are more done as “feel good” paintings. As I thought about this piece, I feel it is a combination of deep meaning and a “feel good” painting. Its purpose is to bring the peace and rest of home into your heart and bring you the joy that the rebirth of Spring gives. We’re all looking and searching in our souls for rest, our own Garden of Eden. I feel as I grow and continue on my journey as an artist, I can’t help but express that same desire and somehow share it with whoever views my paintings. This painting is a “feel good” painting with a purpose of connecting with your heart, and inviting you in, to walk the long the path, smell the azalea blossoms in the air, feel the warm sunlight, and go home to Dogwood Cottage.
